God's Love, What is it?

Matt 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

This scripture has been called "The Greatest Commandment", in which the two commands instruct us how to Love. God clearly states what Love is and our understanding must be founded on Gods own definition, not our own interpretation. Today we will cover Gods Love and His definition in which it does not leave any room for question.

Agape (Greek) Love- Unconditional Love that is spiritual, not sexual, in its nature. 1 John 4:8, God is LOVE. If God is Love (Agape) then He by definition is Unconditional Perfect Love. This Love can only be felt by the believer. As this Love can only be delivered from God to us through faith. God shares this Love unconditionally and all he asks in return is you obedience. With the excess of this Love is how we truly Love those around us, our spouses, children, family, friends and others. Without the outpouring of Gods Love we never truly have the Love it takes to succeed in this life. In John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." this is God showing us His Love (agape) for us in the sacrifice of His son Jesus and this probably the most widely known example of Agape

Phileo (Greek) Love is a more worldly Love in which all can achieve and experience as humans, this Love is not the deep rich fulfilling Love God intended for us to experience. It is often referred to as a brotherly Love. This Love is what unbelievers feel and just imagine, if you are an unbeliever, in Love, how much more is out there with God in your life? The worldly ways are all based on Phileo type Love. Look at our world as it stands. Troubled marriages, torn families and many other serious issues that could be repaired with one simple change.....GOD's Agape Love. Reach out, you will be amazed at His grace. II John 1:6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. You are worth it, He knows this, that is why this is a standing offer. But do not wait, tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

Now God also gives us a foundation to Love others, from the overflow of His perfect Love, he pours into us. These can be found in the scriptures and are very clear in nature. One of the most well known is; 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, Love is PATIENT, love is KIND. It does NOT ENVY, it does NOT BOAST, it is NOT PROUD. It is NOT RUDE, it is NOT SELF-SEEKING, it is NOT easily ANGERED, it keeps NO RECORD OF WRONGS. Love does NOT DELIGHT in EVIL but REJOICES with the TRUTH. It always PROTECTS, always TRUSTS, always HOPES, always PERSEVERES. Some very clear guidelines stand out here and really leaves no room for argument. This is the verse that defines a marriage covenant between Husband and Wife. It really does not leave any room for doubt as to each others role and how God feels about Marriage. He is basically saying you will Love your spouse as He Loves you. There is nothing your marriage cannot survive with God and this definition guiding your relationship.

Our God wants us to succeed in all that we do and experience Love the way he designed it. Now take it from me, we all don't get it right away. It took me over 40 years to get it and that's with my wife praying for me daily. Finally when my life imploded God received my undivided attention. Since then I give him everything. He is in control and I refuse to live one more day without His perfect Agape Love. I have learned from this Love how to truly Love those around me at levels I could never comprehend until I felt Gods touch. We all can experience this Love, by simply asking for it. Don't waste another minute, reach to our Father in Heaven and let Him deliver you into a life you could only imagine or hear about.

Let's Pray: Father God, we come to you this evening searching for that perfect Love. Lord for all those who have never felt your perfect Love Father we ask you cover them today Lord. Show them the life they can have in You. Father we pray that even those who have gone astray can return to your grace Lord. We simply ask for you to forgive our sins Lord and praise you for you sacrifice of the perfect son on our behalf. Lord we Thank You for your Agape Love Lord and let us never to return to the simple Love of this world. Let your Love leave an everlasting yearn in us to always strive for Your grace Lord. We Thank You for all that you do and ask all of these in Jesus name.....AMEN.
